SUCK IT UP! BUTTERCUP!

Suck it up! Buttercup!
Like many other women that share my plight, I go through periods of feeling unloved, unappreciated and down right misunderstood! But in the grand scheme of things…..who really cares! Life goes on and people deal with figurative flying darts designed to break us down everyday. Everyone is so busy ducking and diving themselves, so to speak, who really has time to pick up the pieces after you?  We can either allow it to over take us, or find a way to suck it up and deal with it!  Just saying, I mean, if we trip and fall when no one is around to help us get up, do we just sit there on the ground rolling around? or do we look for ways to get up?
Even if it may cause us some discomfort or pain at the time, when help doesn’t arrive when we think it should, we have to gain the strength to pick ourselves up and move on! It’s not that others don’t care about us!  They are so busy struggling to get up themselves, that they didn’t notice that you needed assistance too, so don’t take it personally, everyone is dealing with something. So I lovingly say, “suck it up! Buttercup!”

ANTS!

Ants!
That’s right ladies ants!
Who would think that such a small creature could drive a women to the brink of a nervous breakdown? Not just any women, but a menopausal women having a bad day! Let me explain, I woke up this morning with a well thought out plan of what I needed to accomplish today, was pretty happy that I finally was going to have the time to do a few of the things that I really needed to get done, but first! Let me get some of the small stuff out of the way, wash a few dishes, put some away, dry some sheets, blah! Blah! Blah! Anywho! I ended up in the kitchen pantry and saw what I thought were a few ants crawling up the wall, but low and behold! These little things were everywhere! And into all things that are sweet and have an opening! Now! I’m plowing through the pantry throwing out things invaded and repacking things in plastic that have not been found by the scout ant yet, what! I had ants crawling all up my arm and face! Not even funny!!!! I still feel like things are crawling on me! This ant fiasco took me from 0-10 on the Menopausal women’s emotional richter scale! I was at my wits end! Wanting to just lay down and die! How could my well planed day be going this way! All due to some itty bitty ANTS! I say all this to say, when you are having an emotional Menopausal moment, nothing is small, almost anything can push you over the edge! And for me, today it was the ANTS! After a little prayer to my God, I regrouped and sat down to share my story with you. Beware of the ants! Lol!

BRAIN FOG

BRAIN FOG

Brain fog: having feelings of being confused, not being able to focus well, a lack of mental clarity and forgetfulness. I’ve spoken to quite a few menopausal women who ask me if I too experience those moments when I just can’t get my thoughts together or think clearly since I started going through menopause, and the answer is YES! My concentration is sooo not what it use to be! I find my mind wandering a lot more and have to laugh at myself sometimes when I catch myself drifting away. I named it M.A.D. Menopausal Attention Disorder Lol! My poor husband, I feel so sorry for him that he has to put up with me during this WACKY! Time in my life, sometimes he could be right in the middle of telling me something and I’ll just start focusing on somethings else! It’s so totally rude! But I truly can’t control it! I just can’t get my brain to cooperate with me, I have to apologize a lot! I spoke about the assistance of sticky notes and inotes in an earlier blog, due to how my memory is just not the same. I really have to struggle a bit more to focus on a task at hand, I mean, I’ve always been a little spastic in my thoughts, but now! I’m really drifting out there! Lol! Definitely not as sharp as I use to be, let’s just say, if I use to be sharp as a knife, now I’m more like a dull number 2 pencil. ? I’ve tried some supplements that seem to work very well, a little on the pricey side, but AMAZING When I’m taking them, I just need to be more consistent, I just hate taking pills! Even those that are helpful, just being honest, I always tend to take them when I have to take a class or workshop that requires me to stay present and focused!

TAMING THE TONGUE

Taming the tongue

The Bible talks a lot about the tongue being a small member, but also how it is so hard to control! It has the ability to sooth, upbuild and comfort others, and at the same time! It can tear down, slice others to pieces and start emotional fires that could be hard to put out! So be careful with the use of your tongue during your menopausal transition. Something I’ve noticed with myself, I’ve always been a very truthful person, but it’s  just something about menopause that causes a women  to want to give those they deem deserving, the TRUTH! And by God! Nothing BUT! The TRUTH! But as we all know ladies, the truth can sometimes hurt!  There is nothing wrong with us holding a little of the truth back if we know that it will absolutely shatter someone’s world! I’m  Not telling you to lie! I’m just saying you don’t have to deliver the truth in deadly doses. If we feel we really have to go there, be tactful about it, I cannot count how many INSERT FOOT IN MOUTH moments I’ve experienced, and most times it’s toward those we love the most! It’s really bad when you wish you could run after each word you just throw out of your mouth at the speed of some world series fast balls! You try to become a word catcher! But it’s to late! Some things just don’t need to be said, but it’s like a burning in your soul until you get it off your chest! You just had to say it!  And that’s not always good, cause after it’s all said and done, you feel terrible inside, I’m constantly checking myself on this tongue point. Before menopause I had more of a handle on choosing my words wisely so as not to injure, now a days, I have to think it through and even with that! I don’t always get it right, but I don’t stop trying.
